Lancaster, Pa. Health Club Fire $300.000 Loss
A three alarm fire filled the Lancaster County Racquetball and Health Club on Millersville Pike in Lancaster Township, just outside of Lancaster City with heavy smoke early today, forcing about 30 club members to flee to safety.The fire, caused an estimated $300.000 to $400.000 in damage,which erupted in the men's sauna room shortly before 6:15 a.m. this morning. An estimated 100 firemen from 11 companies surrounded the building with hose lines, there were 6 Aerial units on location, Firemen reached the roof at about 7 a.m. and opened three ventilation holes through the steel roof. Damage inside the 19-year-old building is extensive.The building is concrete block with no windows except at the main entrance and the building is not sprinklered.The blaze was put under control around 8 a.m.
