NORTH JERSEY VOLUNTEER FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION

President & Treasurer: PO Box 8181, Haledon NJ  07538

Secretary:  29 South Gifford St., Butler NJ 07405

Serving the counties of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris & Passaic Since 1928

Hi fellow fire department members, if possible please forward this

to your fire company/department meeting or post on the bulletin board:

Some of you may wonder how I found you, especially some of you that

are receiving this for the first time.  I have found you from either a

member directory, search engine or a fire deparment web page. If you don't

want to receive this in the future please let me know and I will remove you

from the list.

An email list at onelist.com <http://www.onelist.com> has been

established as a forum for discussion and posting of anything firematic

involving the northern New Jersey area.   While the primary geographic area

is the membership area of the North Jersey Volunteer Firemen's Association

(the 5 counties shown above), participation is most welcome from all

firefighters whether career or vollie, exempt firemen, fire buffs, or anyone

just interested, from those counties or other areas as well.  Posts

concerning anything firematic will be welcomed whether it be news about

fires, equipment, firehouses, legislation, or fun runs (parades, wetdowns,

musters, expos, flea markets, fundraisers).  If you are not familiar with

Onelist, it is a new free service with about thousands of lists already,

just visit their webpage, register as a user then find the list:

NorthJerseyVolFire@onelist.com or go

directly to the subscription URL:

Is your fire department web page linked to www.Fire-Ems.net or

www.Firehouse.com?  If your company or department doesn't have a web page,

Fire-EMS.net will give you one for free and it is easy to set it up.  As an

example, I set one up for my company, which can be viewed by going to the

Applications for smokehouse dates at our Fire Training Center in

Wayne are now available from President John Hunt (973-595-6398).  We

currently have a Firefighter I class in progress with indoor sessions being

held at the brand new Verona firehouse and the outdoor classes to be

conducted at our site soon. Like Wal-Mart, "low prices, always".

The next monthly meeting will be Wednesday, May 5th, at the

firehouse of Pompton Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, Paterson-Hamburg

Turnpike & Passaic Avenue one mile east of I-287 exit 53 in Riverdale.  From

NJ Route 23 take I-287 north only 1/4 mile to exit 53.  The session begins

at 8:00 pm and usually ends between 9:30 and 10:00.  A guest speaker is

scheduled to present a special program.  Everyone is welcome from both

member companies and those that are not members of the NJVFA.

The June 2nd meeting is at Jefferson Township Fire Co. 1, Milton.

The firehouse is on Milton Road, one mile off Berkshire Valley Road by St.

Thomas RC Church, about 3 miles from NJ Route 23 via Oak Ridge Road from

Newfoundland.  From NJ 15, follow Berkshire Valley Road 6 miles to

Dover-Milton Road, a left turn by a tri-angle, then 1 mile to Milton Road

with the firehouse on the right.

The North Jersey Volunteer Firemen's Association is composed of more

than 130 volunteer fire companies, auxiliary fire units and industrial fire

brigades that are located in the five counties of Bergen, Essex, Hudson,

Morris and Passaic.

While our name includes the word "Firemen's" we welcome everyone,

men and women of all races, religions, nationalities, etc., who are

associated with the fire service.

Do you have a fax number at your firehouse or another location where

your company would like to receive updates and urgent notifications?  If so

please send me the fax numbers.

Our monthly meetings are usually on the first Wednesday of each

month, beginning 8 pm.  While all of the 130+ member companies are urged to

be represented at our meetings, it is not mandatory and everyone is always

welcome, whether or not from a member company.
