Located in eastern upstate NY, Schoharie county suffered through 2 fatal accidents within 4 hours of one another on Monday, May 17.
Call #1 in the village of Schoharie brought Schoharie Fire and 5 ambulances from Scho-Wright, MEVAC (Middleburgh), Central Bridge, and 2 from Cobleskill, plus 2 air ambulances from Albany Medical Center and Lifeguard (NYS police) to the scene of a minivan versus delivery truck head on in a 30MPH zone on Main street in Schoharie. 3 of the 4 elderly minivan passengers were killed. NYS police do accident reconstruction and the team was still working on this accident scene when call #2 toned the Richmondville Fire and Ambulance to a motorcycle MVA on Summit street in their village. Summit ambulance was requested mutual aid. Passenger on the motorcycle was tossed into the wheels of a turning truck and was killed. Again, Albany Med Flight provided air ambulance service to this scene and transported the motorcycle driver to Albany medical Center suffering two broken legs and a head injury. CISD was announced for the following evening for those involved in call #2 in Richmondville. Our county's CISD team will also be asked to help those in call #1, a triple fatal.
