At 21:45 of 6-7-99, units from the Crozet Vol. Fire Department in VA responded for the report of smoke coming from the structure in Greenwood. Engine 54, Car 50, Tanker 57, and Tower 18 made the inital response and found heavy smoke coming from a single family residence. Neighbors reported they didn't think anyone was home and the fire was at the rear of the house. The home was unoccupied and after an agressive interior attack the fire was contained to the crawl space, and kitchen floor and wall. The home was being remodeled at the time. Additional units responding were Crozet Engine 52, Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, Rockfish Valley Fire Department's tanker and air utility and Albemarle County Fire Marshal. Cause and damage are still under investigation.
