About 11 AM this morning a fire started in the outisde storage facility of a plastics factory in the borough of Queens. FDNY units reponsed and found the fire had spread to the main plant. Do the nature of the materials used to make the platics; the fire spread quickly through the whole factory and extended to a nearby apartments building. Two propane tanks in the factory exploded during the fire. Additonal alarms were struck and it took about four hours to bring the fire under control. Six fireman suffered minor injuries and several residents of the apartment build were left homeless.
