Many calls were received by Fire Dispatchers at 1:56PM of the house on fire at 505 BOWMAN AVENUE in the Sunset Manor area of West Las Vegas. On arrival, firefighters found the 1-story wood frame house full of flames and some shooting through the roof. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. The fire caused extensive damage to the house and also to three vehicles parked behind the house. Damage was estimated at $80,000.

The was some concern when firefighters arrived on the scene, that an elderly lady who lives in the house, was still inside. A short time later, firefighters learned that she was not at home, as well as her four adult Sons, who also live in the house. The American Red Cross is assisting the family of five with temporary housing and supplies. Two pet dogs, were also found unharmed by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. A neighbor, who was working on his car in his front yard, told Fire Investigators that he saw the people leave earlier. Later in the afternoon, he heard a loud boom and noticed the inside of the house on fire. Other people told Investigators that it was only a short time later that the flames were thru the roof.
