083099 : 0702 hours box 34, 3rd & Walnut streets was transmitted for a building fire at 226 Rose street. Responding on the box were E3,1,5, L1, Sn1, R1, a medic unit and C5. Ladder 1 arrived at 0704 and reported a working fire. Smoke was showing from the 2nd & 3rd floors of a 3 story M.O.R. occupied apartment building. 2-1&3/4 inch lines were stretched and the fire in the 2nd floor apartment was brought under control in 15 minutes. No injuries were reported in the fire which caused $20,000 damage and left 7 people homeless.
083199: @1430 hours box 76, Front & Buttonwood streets was transmitted for a reported building fire at 343 No. Front street. Responding on the box were E1,9,5, L1 & 3, R1, a medic unit , & C4. Ladder 1 arrived and reported smoke showing from a 2&1/2 story M.O.R. apartment building. Fire involved a kitchen in a 1st floor apartment and was held in check by firefighters from the ladder using pressurized water extinguishers until a 1&3/4 inch line was in service. The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes.No injuries were reported in the fire which caused about $5,000 damage. The 1st floor tenant was left homeless.
