Ridge, NY 10/18/99 03:04 hrs.
It had been raining since the 5th inning of the Mets game (about 6 pm the night before). We were toned out for an automatic alarm at the Ridge Elementary School. That's definitely one of those alarms that you want to roll over and hit the reset. Good thing we didn'tAfter making entry into the school gymnasium, Chief Campo reported smoke in the building. Engine 3 was first on scene and make a good knock down of the fire, containing it to a custodians office and part of one classroom. Sorry kids, school's open today! Good hit by F/F Jeff Beerman and Artie VanSicklen led by 2nd Lt. Dave Amon.
