Two working fires at the same address less than 8 hours apart gutted a 3 story vacant row dwelling in Reading's fire scarred 6th Ward area. The fire building as well as numerous exposures were previously damaged by fires in 1996, and 1998. Although the fire was at the same address, different boxes were transmitted each time due to the origin of the calls reporting the fires. Both fires required 1&3/4-inch handlines to bring under control and an additional engine company was requested at both fires. No injuries were reported in either fire and a damage estimate was unavailable due to the conditoin of the building from the previous fires. Officials said the first fire was deliberatley set in the boarded up building which was loaded with trash and other debris. An investigation into the cause of the 2nd fire is under way. The following is a break down of each fire.
