Official LA City Fire Department Press Release

On Monday, November 08, 1999, at 4:06 AM, four Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters and seven LAFD Rescue Ambulances under the direction of Battalion Commander Daryl Arbuthnott responded to a multi-victim traffic collision at the intersection of 22nd Street and Broadway in the Downtown area. The first units to arrive on scene reported a collision between a privately-owned refuse vehicle and an MTA Bus. A total of 23 persons were triaged and ultimately transported to area hospitals, mostly with very minor injuries. The sole exception was an adult female in “fair” condition with subjective shortness of breath. No Firefighters were injured. Officials from the Los Angeles Police Department are handling the investigation.
