FIRE DAMAGES VACANT WEST LAS VEGAS HOUSE

Fire damaged a vacant house in West Las Vegas early Sunday afternoon.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. There were no injuries.
Firefighters received numerous calls at 12:58PM that a house was on fire
at 712 Jefferson Avenue (Jefferson Ave. & H St.). When firefighters arrived
on the scene, flames were coming out the front, boarded up window, of the
1-story wood frame/stucco house. The house has been vacant for quite a
while, was board up and disconnected from all utilities. Firefighters
entered the house and was able to quickly douse the flames, but not before it
did heavy flame damage to approximately one-half of the small, old house. No
damage estimate was immediately available. City records indicate the house
    was built in the mid-30ís.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. Fire Investigators believe that
homeless people have been staying in the house and may be responsible for the
    fire.
There were no injuries in connection with the incident.
