A fire that was reported at 01:30 Sunday morning continues to be overhauled Tuesday morning at the Metropolitan District Commission sewage treatment plant in Hartford.

The $20,000,000 composting plant which takes sludge and turns it into potting soil has been heavily damaged. 30,000 cu. yds. of compost in a 26' high pile was involved inside the structure, reaching an estimated 1,100 degrees.
