12-13-99 @ 19:37hrs., Box 26-09 was transmitted for a fire at the Chalkboard Apts., 50 S.3rd. St. in Perkasie Boro. Bucks County. Due on the assignment were E-26, E-26-1, L-26(Perkasie),E-27, E-27-2, L-27(Sellersville). Chief 26 first on the air was advised by communications that caller had smoke in the stairwell, and could see flames by the front entrance to the building. Chief 26 arrived at 19:39hrs. and reported smoke showing from the front entrance. Two additional ladders and a FAST truck were requested at 19:40hrs. This brought L-23(Dublin), L-74(Souderton,Montgomery County), and R-60(Hilltown Twp.) for the FAST assignment. The fire was quickly contained to the lobby area of the bulding. A small trash can under the mailboxes was the origin of the fire. The two additional ladder companies were returned at 19:47hrs. as the fire was placed under control. Companies in service for about an hour ventilating the building. Also assisting at this incident were Perkasie Community Ambulance, and the Perkasie Boro Police Dept. This incident is under investigation by the Bucks County Fire Marshall's Office.
