An early morning blaze Tuesday destroyed a recently vacated 2 story home.
The structure was fully involved when the Verdoy Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene. Mutual Aid assistance was given by Shaker Road firefighters while Latham firefighters stood by at the Verdoy station.
Firefighters were hampered in their efforts to save the home by arching live wires. It took several minutes before power was shut off to the residence.
The blaze was declared under control 2 hours later and the home was completely destroyed by the fast moving flames.
Verdoy firefighters were back in station 3 hours later.
