At approximately 13:00hrs. on Tuesday January 4, 2000, Rotterdam Fire Dispatch started recieving multiple calls for a house fire. Rotterdam Fire Dist. #2 was dispatched as well as Fire Dist. #3, Carman Fire Department for AMA. Upon arrival of Car 129 (Dist #2 chief), a signal 99 was called, ( Schenectady County for working fire). Dist. #3 T-132 was first on scene and stretched an 1 3/4" attack line to the second floor, and got relayed by E-124. Two additional 1 3/4", were stretched from E-124. The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes and declared out in about 1/2 hour. The second floor of the home suffered severe fire damage and heavy water damage on the first floor. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature. One firefighter was treated and released from an area hospital with dehydration. It took 2 engines, 2 rescues and 1 truck company to extinguish the fire.
