Several working building fires over the last few days have tested many Bucks & Montco companies as they not only battled the beast, but also the freezing weather. On 1-27-00 @ 22:30hrs., Station 19 (Doylestown, Bucks County) was dispatched to a Barn Fire on Shady Reatreat Rd. in New Britian Boro. Chief 19 arrived first and reported a 2 story converted barn, fully involved. This incident resulted in a fatality, with 1 occupant unable to escape the building.
1-27-00 @ 10:00hrs., Station 30 (Falls Twp., Bucks County)was dispatched to a fire in a car wash. Fire quickly controlled, with moderate fire and smoke damage.
1-27-00 @14:15hrs.,Station 30 was dispatched for an apartment fire. Fire showing thru the roof upon arrival. Several co's in service about 2 hours controlling the blaze.
1-30-00 Station 76 (Towmencin, Montgomery County) was dispached for a structure at the Sear's Hardware on Forty Foot Rd. in Towmencin Twp. First arriving units reported a working fire in the rear stockroom. Fire controlled by bulding sprinkler system. Co's in service 1.5hrs.
1-30-00 As Station 17 (Hatfield,Montgomery County)was taking up from the Towmencin Twp. job, they were dispatched to a Working house fire in Hatfield Twp. First arriving units reported fire thru the roof. Fire controlled in 45 minutes, units on scene for 2.5 hrs for overhaul.
1-31-00 @6:15hrs., Station 53 (Lower Providence, Montgomery County)was dispatched for a stucture fire on Egypt Rd. First arriving units reported a 2 story multiple occupancy with heavy fire on the #2 floor. Fire involved eight units before being brought under control. Many co's assisted with extingushment and overhaul.
2-1-00 @15:45hrs., Station 24 (Plumsteadville, Bucks County) was dispatched for a house fire in Plumstead Twp. First arriving units reported fire showing on side 2. Fire burned roof area and into the #2 floor bedroom and bathroom. Fire brought under control in 15 mins. 4 co's operated at this incident.
2-2-00 @10:30hrs., Station 23 (Dublin, Bucks County) was dispatched for a barn Fire on Blue School Rd. in Hilltown Twp. First arriving units reported a working fire with several horses trapped. Sta.59 Silverdale), Station 61 (Hiltown Twp.) and Sta.26 (Perkasie) were dispatched to assist. A quick attack of the fire resulted in a save of the 250 x 75 building. Only 3 stalls were damadged by fire.
It has certainly been busy in S.E. PA over the last few days. Most of the above calls were battled in chilling temps around 20-25 degrees. All incidents wre abreveated to vital info only.
