021900: At 0451 hours Box 42, 10th & Walnut streets was transmitted for a dwelling fire at 134 N. 10th street. Units arrived to find smoke showing from the 2nd floor of a 2&1/2 story M.O.R. dwelling. Companies advanced a 1&3/4-inch line and quickly extinguished a fire in a 2nd floor room. The fire was placed under control at 0507 hours. The building sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported. A damage estimate was unavailable. Companies assigned to the box: E1,13,3,Sn1,L1,R1,Medic4, C3 & C6.
---022000: ***MVA pin job***** At 1320 hours a rescue assignment was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 11th & Rockland streets. Units arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident with 1 of the occupants trapped. Companies went in service with the jaws of life and freed the victim at 1340 hours. ---022000: At 1854 hours Box 2122 was transmitted for a fire at the American Chain & Cable complex at 476 tulpehocken street after a police officer in a neighboring suburb spotted fire and smoke coming from the sprawling complex. (The complex has been the scene of numerous arson fires & multiple alarms in recent years, see previous postings). Companies arrived at 1857 hours and found smoke showing from the complex but were unsure of the exact location of the fire inside the plant. After forcing entry through a locked security fence, companies found 3 abandoned cars and 2 trucks burning inside buildings on the west side of the plant along the Schuylkill River. Companies went in service with 3, 1&3/4-inch handlines bringing the fires under control by 1922 hours. Water had to be shuttled throughout the fire from the closest hydrant about 3 blocks away at River Rd & W. Buttonwood streets. No injuries were reported and their was no structural damage.The fire(s) have been labeled arson and are under investigation. Companies assigned to the box : E3,11,1,2,L1,Sn1,R1,Medic1, C3 & C6.
