Walpole MA. Woodworkers fire
A fire at Walpole Woodworkers Co. in progress. Box 231
Chief Kenneth Erickson classified the fire as "a heavy loss fire" one building totally destroyed and possible HazMat with paint/stain contaminants in the run off.
Mutual aid from Wrentham,Norfolk,Westwood,Foxborough,and Sharon on scene. Heavy stream appliances in use. Route #27 (east st. closed down)
Norwood and medfield had the station coverage on Stone St.
State Fire Marshall notified due to heavy dollar loss.
Three Alarms were struck for a 100'x60' production building containing a work area for staining the wood products.
Walpole woodworkers was established in 1933 and has facilities in New York and New Jersey.
The fire building was completely destroyed however exposures containing more expensive items were protected and saved from damage.
Damage is estimated at approx.$300,000 and the fire is being classified as accidental.
A cuppola to be used in the upcoming Boston flower show was lost in the fire. The flower show is next sunday and the large structure was to be used at the entry way.
No injuries were reported.-thankfully!
