April 1, 2000 12:16 PM Box 543 was transmitted for an explosion and fire at 325 Mansfield Street. First due Engine Company 8, Captain Ralph Black in command, arrived and found an explosion rocked the third floor of a 3 story brick, occupied multiple dwelling. Engine 8 quickly doused some spot fires and checked for extension. The occupant had discharged multiple roach "bombs" in the apartment when the flammable gas reached the stove pilot light and ignited. Acting Battalion Chief Kevin Delaney put the fire under control in 10 minutes and requested Investigators and Building Department official to check structural damage. No injuries.
