Firefighters from Willingboro, N. J. and two other fire departments extinguished a hot and smoky house fire this morning at 22 Raeburn Lane. Firefighters were sent to this house after the 911 Center received a call from a resident at 19 Radcliffe Place at 9:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived on Engine 1611 (98 Segrave) in 5 minutes and found heavy smoke pouring from the second floor of this vacant house. They immediately entered the house and found heavy fire and heat conditions on the second floor, while additional firefighters arrived on Squirt 1631 (88 Mack 75'Squirt) and Utility 1619 (95 Mack/Swab) and opened windows to vent the intense heat and smoke. Fire Chief Troy Bishop (1600) immediately called for assistance from neighboring Delran (231, automatic mutual aid dispatch) and Mount Laurel (361) firefighters. These crews assisted in ensuring the fire was completely extinguished and that the fire destroyed no other of the attatched homes. A house at 24 Raeburn Lane received some smoke damage as a result of the fire, but the family in that home wil be able to return today. Firefighters had the fire under control at 9:52 a.m. The fire is under investigation by Fire Marshall Rod Hardy (FM16).
