On 5/4/00 at 0429 hrs Jersey City Fire Dispatch transmitted Box 762 for a fire reported at 344 Virginia Ave.While units were enroute Fire Dispatch further reported of "people out the windows".Engine 17 and Ladder 11 arrived to find HEAVY fire in the rear of a 2 story frame (25x50)with extension to a similar 2 story frame on the "D"side that was only seperated by about 1 foot.The 2nd alarm was tranamitted as Batt.2 arrived and his 1st report was "(2) 2 story frames goin good , GIVE ME A 3RD ALARM". First due companies made an AGGRESIVE interior attack along with protecting the exposures and knockdown the the heavy fire quickly and stop the extension of fire completely.Fire was kept to the rear of the fire building and the air shaft between the 2 structures. The fire was quickly put under control due to the aggressive actions of the firstdue units. When all was done THE Group"D" DEPUTY CHIEF
told Fire Dispatch to make an annoucment on the air to units who operated at Box 762
