10 Alarm Fire Destroys 800,000 Square Foot Warehouse.

Philadelphia Firefighters fought a very intense 10 Alarm Fire in a large 3 and 4 story warehouse covering over 800,000 square foot. The first arriving companies found heavy fire showing, with numerous explosions as the fire fed on drums of lubricants, and other chemicals stored inside. The Philadelphia Fire Department battled the blaze for over 4 hours using 53 pieces of apparatus before bringing it under control. Firefighters were successful in preventing a large 12,000 gal. propane tank from rupturing. During the fire, a callback of off duty fire personnel resulted in 9 --100 series pumpers, and 1-- 100 series ladder being placed in service to cover the fire stations around the city. Three firefighters received minor injuries during this blaze. During this fire, Interstate-95, and the Northeast Corridor of Amtrak were shut down.
