A warehouse fire Wednesday night injured three firefighters and caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to stock waiting to be shipped. The alarm was transmitted at 9:15 p.m. for a automatic alarm at 201 Seymour St. for a water flow alarm. The building is a warehouse for the MB Glick Wholesale Co., which assembles wooden crafts in another building at the complex.Engine #2 responded with a three man crew from just several blocks away and the B/C from Fire Headquarters. On arrival Engine #2 found heavy fire in the rear part of the 16,000-sq.-ft. warehouse with a working sprinkler system in the 40 year old tobacco processing building.Engine #2 requested the alarm be filled out for a structure responce dispatching two more engines and two truck companies.Just after 11p.m.several firefighters reported they were in trouble and couldn't find their way out of the building. Three 2 1/2" hand lines were working on the interior of the building. The firefighters activated their P.A.S.S alarms which helped rescuers find them, I believe two of them were out of air or very close to being out of air when they were pulled from the building. They were checked at the hospiatal and returned to the fire scene.Firefighters who entered the building found dozens of small fires scattered among the piles of wooden pallets and boxed merchandise.More than 50 firefighters worked the fire and manned two reserve pumpers in the stations. The Eden Volunteer Fire Company responded with their Tower/Ladder for the second time in two weeks on a General-Alarm fire in the city since City Tower/Ladder #2 hasen't been able to use their ladder do to machanical problems.Lancaster Twp.Volunteers responded with their air unit which also was used for lighting. The fire is under investigation by the City Fire Marshals and Pa. State Police, the fire is suspicious! 5/26/00 The cause of this fire has been ruled arson by the State Police!
