At 1145 hrs on 6/3 the Irvington FD responded a verbal alarm of smoke in the area of 22nd St & 18th Ave. On Engine 44 arrival they had heavy fire in a 3 story frame 30x60 and extending to the rear of a 3 story frame 40x40 that was at the corner of 18th ave & 22nd St. A 2nd & 3rd alarms were transmitted back to back, Newark sent 2 engines(E18,E6)&1truck(T10)AND Bat4 to the scene,East Orange Engine 4 also went straight to the scene. Fire took hold of both topfloors &cocklofts of both structures and companies went to an exterior attack & a 4th alarm was transmitted bringing 1 engine from Union & 1 engine from Maplewood to the scene.The fire took over 2 hours to bring under control,also at least 7 firefighters wre treated for various injuries at last report.
