July 25 2000- Rescue - Engine 333 was again called into service as a squad for a major automobile accident on Route 50 in Mitchellville, Maryland.

Shortly after 3 PM units from Kentland, West Lanham Hills, Landover Hills and Tuxedo-Cheverly were dispatched for a reported traffic accident on Route 50, the John Hanson Highway in the area of the Capital Beltway. The accident was located on east bound Route 50 in the area of Freeway Airport.

Rescue-Engine 333, which has yet to be recognized by the county as a combination Class 'A' engine and heavy rescue squad, was the first unit on the scene. With its updated location, Glen Dale VFD's Squad 18 requested to run the assignment and was placed on the call. The crew from Kentland found three vehicles with two occupants pinned in two of the cars. Rescue-Engine 333 extricated a driver from the most severly damaged car while Rescue Squad 22 (Tuxedo-Cheverly) extricated the driver from the other vehicle.

Maryland State Police Trooper 8 and US Park Police Eagle 2 were summonded to the scene to medevac both patients to trauma centers. Both victims were extricated within 15 minutes and were loaded directly into the awaiting helicopters.
