A dwelling fire was reported at 4:15 a.m.Sunday morning in Akron Boro in Northern Lancaster County,Pa.The fire broke out several hours after a party in the house, it was discovered by a neighbor.The ranch style house was well envolved when firefighters arrived.One 19 year old female occupant escaped but another 19 year old female became trapped in the bathroom. Firefighters rescued the unconscious women that was listed in serious condition from severe smoke inhalaton.She was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa.No cause for the fire has been determined.Akron firefighters were assisted by crews from Farmersville,Reinholds and West Earl fire companies. No dollar loss has been set but the house was destroyed.
Later Sunday morning Lancaster City fire units were dispatched for a dweling fire at 837 Manor St. with multiple calls reporting fire showing from side-1 of a row home.It was shift change for city firefighters so a mix of C platoon and B platoon personel responded to the call. First units on location reported heavy smoke from the middle of the block row home. C platoon was held over and a 2nd. alarm was struck bringing off duty A platoon back on duty.The house was vacant, there was heavy fire through out the second floor. Damage to the fire building was set at $50,000 and smoke damage to four other adjoining row homes was set at $2000 each, cause of the fire is still undetermined.
