Durham (NC) Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 0650 on 08/06/00. Units responding included: E-4 (first due), E-1, E-3, L-1, L-12, SQ-1, SQ-4, Med-5, Med-6, MSU-1, Batt. II, and the safety officer. E-4 arrived and found heavy fire showing from the front door and the second story of a two and a half story wood frame dwelling. Fire crews were hampered by 85 degree weather. Fire appeared to have started in the basement and spread to all floors. The house was gutted. Fire declared under control at 0830. All units cleared the scene at 1030. Units clearing from the scene had to respond to another structure fire half a block away in a vacant house. That fire was quickly brought under control.

This was the first of 15 calls ran by SQ-1 in twenty four hours.
