-----080300: A Reading man was in stable condition in a Reading area medical center after jumping from the 2nd floor of his burning 6th Ward home. The occupant was awakened by a smoke detector and found heavy smoke in his home. Unable to exit down the stairs he jumped from a 2nd floor window, striking a railing on the way down. At 0345 hours box 76, Front & Buttonwood streets was transmitted for a dwelling fire at 358 No. Front street. Companies arrived at 0348 hours to find fire showing from the 1st floor rear of a 3 story E.O.R dwelling with a jumper down. Companies used 2-1&3/4-inch lines to bring the fire under control by 0433 hours. One firefighter was treated for a minor laceration. The fire caused $40,000 damage and the cause is under investigation. Companies assigned: E3,11,12-1,L1,Sn1,R1,Medic1, C2 & 9, E5-safety company.
