----090600: At 2147 hours box 34, 3rd & Walnut streets was transmitted for a reported dwelling fire in the area of Rose & Washington streets. Companies arrived at 2148 hours to find smoke showing from a 3 story vacant duplex at 321-23 Washington street.Companies extinguished a fire on the 2nd floor with a 1&3/4-inch line, bringing it under control by 2204 hours. No injuries were reported and a damage estimate was unavailable. Officials have labeled the fire arson and found numerous points of origin as well as a flammable liquid spread throughout the building. The same building was the site of a suspicious fire in 1998. ----090800: At 2236 hours box 49, 12th & Buttonwood streets was transmitted for a dwelling fire at 329 Lombard street. Companies arrived at 2239 hours to find smoke showing from a secured 3 story M.O.R. dwelling. Companies forced entry and extiguished a fire involving the kitchen area with 2 PW's and a 1&3/4-inch line, bringing it under control at 2250 hours. No injuries were reported and a damage estimate was unavailable. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Companies assigned: E1,13,9,L3,Sn1,R1,Medic3, C2 & 9, E3-safety company.
----090900: At 1520 hours box 143, McClellan & Scott streets was transmitted for a reported dwelling fire at 405 McClellan street in the city's Oakbrook housing project. Companies arrived at 1523 hours to find a 2 story project home with medium to heavy smoke showing. Companies quickly extiguished a fire in the kicthen area, bringing it under control by 1528 hours. One occupant was treated at the scene for 2nd degree burns and a damage estimate was unavailable. The cause of the fire was unattended cooking.
