Busy night in Fawn Grove, PA
The night of Monday, September 25, 2000 proved to be a busy one, particularly for firefighters from Fawn Grove's Citizens' Volunteer Fire Company. Weather conditions were extremely poor with low temperatures and a heavy wind-driven rain. At approximately 1930 hrs., units were dispatched to a reported vehicle accident with 2 pedestrians struck on East Main Street in Fawn Grove. Units operating: E56-2, M-56, A-57, PSP
While operating at the pedestrian accident, Fawn Grove was dispatched as the 2nd due company on a reported structure fire in Lower Chanceford Township. First due units from the Airville Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene to find a 3 story farmhouse with heavy fire showing from the top floor. A tanker shuttle was established to supply water, as there were no hydrants in the area. Units extinguished the fire and remained on the scene for approximately 3 1/2 hours for overhaul. The cause of the fire is unknown. Units operating: E55-1, E55-2, E55-3, E56-4, E56-3, Tanker 39, E57-3 to station 55. *2nd Alarm* E57-3 to scene, E39-1, E56-2 to station 55, E54-3 to station 56, E44-1 to station 39.
