At approx 0845 hrs this date, Queen Annes Co Communications alerted Fire Box 7-7 for a house fire at 110 Dogwood Court Lane. Alerted on the box was Queen Annes Co Station 7 (Crumpton), Station 6 (Sudlersville), and Kent County MD Station 2 (Millington). With both Sudlersville and Millington were preparing for Fire Prevention Week activities, and a quick response was made by both companies. Queen Annes Engine 64 went on the scene and advised a single story, wood frame house with fire showing and approx. 20% involved. Engine 64 started an interior attack through the front door, while the engine crew from Kent County Engine 23 pulled a second attack lane and proceeded in the east door. A quick containment was made but there had already been fire spread into the atic area. A second alarm was struck by Command bringing in Kent County Station 6 (Chestertown), Station 3 (Galena), and Queen Annes Station 5 (Church Hill). Water supply was a problem as the house sat on a one lane stone road and two of the pumper tankers in the area were out of service. The first in tanker was Station 2's tractor trailer and was unable to get to the fire scene due to the twists and turns in the narrow road. An extensive LDH lay was made to provide a water supply.

During overhaul, it was discivered that there was a full 20 lb. propane tank in the residence and was being used for heating of a exterior room. Luckily, it was not end of the house that was involved but the entire house was near flash point when the first units opened it up.

Multiple transfers were in effect from New Castle and Kent Counties DE. MD State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the fire at this time. There were no injuries.
