At approximately 2003, 12 October 2000, the Clinton Heights Fire Department (East Greenbush, NY) was dispatched to a reported fire in a building. The fire originated in the kitchen when the stove was apparently left unattended. At the time of the dispatch the departments Truck Company (Truck 8) was only approximately 1 mile away en-route to a training detail. The Truck was diverted and responded on the alarm arriving in less than two minutes. Upon arrival the company officer (Capt Phelen) established the command and deployed his crew to work. The incident was managed by Car 2 (1st Assistant Hendricks), Operations (Capt Phelen) and Interior Command (Capt Stark). The fire was contained to the stove, counters, and walls of the kitchen. Three Engine Company’s (8-2, 8-6, 8-7), a Truck Company (Truck-8), a Rescue Company (Rescue-8), and an Ambulance (A-6) operated at the scene for just under 1 hour. An EMS crew treated two residences/victims at the scene for minor inhalation.
