At 3:10 pm on Friday 10-13-2000 the Franklinville, NY Volunteer Fire Dept. was dispatched to a 2 Car head on MVA with multiple injuries on Route 242 in the Township. First arriving ambulance FFD8 found 4 pts trapped inside the vehicles. FFD Rescue Engine 3 arrived with the jaws and began extricating the 2 most serious injured patients from one of the vehicles. 2 Mercy Flight helicopters were called to the scene. West Valley Volunteer FD was called for a second set of jaws to extricate the other patients from the other vehicle. Machias Vounteer FD was also called for their 2 ambulances and manpower. 2 patients from the one vehicle were transported to Olean General Hospital via ambulance and later released. The two most seriously injured patients were transported by Mercy Flight helicopters #1 and #5 to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, for traumatic injuries due to the nature of the crash.
