Raritan, NJ (Somerset County) - Sunday 10/29/2000, Raritan Station 52 Fire alerted approx 11:20am to 401 Victoria St. for the reported structure fire. PD arrived on-scene in minutes and upgraded the box to a working structure fire, requesting all units to expedite. Chief-52 arrived on-scene with smoke showing from the 2nd floor of a 3-story brick OMD, and requested a mutual aid engine to the scene w/manpower from Somerville Station 57. 1st-in engine 52-102 arrived with a crew of 4, and led off with a 200 ft. preconnect to the second floor thru the front door. 2nd-in engine 52-101 hit a hydrant located on the corner while Truck 52-121 setup on the southside of the structure. Somerville Engine-3 arrived shortly after and provided assistance with overhaul and venting. All searches were negative, and the fire was under control in minutes and contained to the room of origin. Cause is unknown at this time.
