These incidents occurred in Reading over the past week:
----102600: At 1742 hours box 621,9th and Oley streets transmitted for a building fire at 701 N. 9th street. Companies arrived to find fire showing from the 3rd floor of a 3 story mixed occupancy structure (apartments above bar). Fire brought under control at 1803 hours. No injuries reported in the fire which appears accidental. Two occupants left homeless. Companies assigned: E9,1,11,L2,Sn1,R1,Medic1, C-1,2,& 9, E13-safety company
---MVA pin job--- At 2201 hours, a rescue assignment dispatched for a MVA at 4th & Washington streets. Companies found a 2 vehicle accident with 1 victim pinned inside. The victim was extricated at 2209 hours and transported to local medical center.Companies assigned: E3,R1,Medic1,& C-9. special call for L1 at 2204 hours.
----102800: At 1928 hours box 241, 9th & Franklin streets transmitted for vacant apartment building fire at 118 S. 9th street. Companies arrived to find smoke showing 3rd floor of a 3 story M.O.R. vacant apartment building. After having difficulty accessing 3rd floor,the fire was brought under control at 1943 hours.Cause is suspicious and under investigation. Companies assigned: E1,3,5,L1,L2,R1,Medic4, C-3 & 6, E13-safety company.
------ At 2034 hours, box 241, 9th and Franklin streets was transmitted again for a fire at 118 S. 9th street. Companies arrived to find smoke showing again from the 3rd floor of the vacant 3 story M.O.R. apartment building. A fire involving a different area of the 3rd floor was brought under control at 2046. Second fire suspicious as well and under investigation. Companies assigned: E1,3,5,Sn1,L1,R1,Medic1, C-3 & 6, E13-safety company.
----102900: At 0627 hours, box 41, 10th and Penn streets was transmitted for a building fire at 948 Penn street. Companies arrived to find fire involving the 1st floor of a 3 story M.O.R. mixed-occupancy structure (apartments over a laundramat). Fire brought under control at 0703 hours. No injuries reported in the fire which appears accidental. Companies assigned: E1,13,3,Sn1,L1,R1,Medic1, C-3 & 6, E5-safety company.
---- At 1020 hours Box 2132 transmitted for a fire at the Dick Brothers Foundry complex at 342 N. 3rd street. (complex was site of numerous fires and multiples during the 90's). Companies arrived to find a large pile of debris and tires burning in the rear of the complex, producing heavy smoke visible for miles. Fire brought under control at 1048 hours and considered suspicious. Companies assigned: E3,1,11,5,L1,Sn1,R1,Medic4, & C-5 & 7
----103100: High number of runs for Halloween day and day before. Companies responded to numerous suspicious rubbish,brush,and automobile fires, as well as 4 working dwelling fires on the 31st.
---- At 1412 hours, E3 dispatched to reported automobile fire to the rear of 346 N. Front street. After arriving to find an automobile well involved and spreading to a 2 story frame garage, 1st alarm filled out at 1419. Fire brought under control at 1429 hours and labeled suspicious. Companies assigned: Still alarm: E3 & C-9. Box 76, Front & Buttonwood streets: E12,13,Sn1,L2,Medic6, C-1, E14-safety company.
----At 1605 hours, Box 252,11th & Penn streets transmitted for a reported garage fire in the 1000 block of Cherry street. Companies brought a fire involving a 1 story brick garage under control by 1615 hours. The fire has been labeled suspicious. Companies assigned: E1,3,5,Sn1,L1,R1,Medic1,C-1 & 2, E9-safety company.
----At 1718 hours, E1 dispatched to reported rubbish fire to the rear of 934 Buttonwood street. After recieving numerous calls, Fire Commumications upgraded the response and transmitted box 46, 9th and Buttonwood streets as E1 was arriving on the scene at 1721 hours. Companies brought the rubbish fire which had extended to a 3 story M.O.R. dwelling under control by 1735 hours. Fire has been labeled suspicious. Companies assigned: Still alarm: E1 & C-8. Box 46: E9,3,L2,Sn1,R1,Medic1, C-2, E13-safety company.
----At 2353 hours, box 424, Linden and Elm streets was transmitted for a dwelling fire at 242 N. 14th street. Companies arrived to find smoke showing from a 1&1/2 story 20x40 single family dwelling, with a burn victim outside. Companies brought the basement fire under control by 0004 hours. One victim helo'd with serious burns, in the fire which was caused by an occupant cleaning paint brushes with gasoline. Companies assigned: E1,13,9,L2,R1,Medics 4 & 6, C-4 & 8, E3-safety company
