SF: STRUCTURE FIRE

On Tuesday, October 31, 2000, at 2005 hours (8:05 p.m.), eleven companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, two Battalion Command Teams, and two LAFD Rescue Ambulances, under the direction of Battalion Commander Christopher Logan, responded to a Greater Alarm Structure Fire at 3191 West 7th Street, in the Pico Heights area. First units on the scene reported a five story, center hallway, hotel/apartment building with heavy smoke showing from the second floor. Firefighters using handlines made aggressive attack on the fire and confined the fire to a “vacant” unit on the second floor of the “Hotel Chancellor.” The fire was extinguished in thirty-four minutes and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is listed as incendiary/under investigation. Fire damage is estimated at $1,100 ($1,000 structure and $100 contents).
