These fires occurred in Reading over the past few days:
----110400: At 0309 hours, box 353, Front & Greenwich streets was transmitted for a reported dwelling fire in the 100 block of Hudson street. Companies arrived at 0311 hours to find heavy fire showing from the 1st and 2nd floor rear of 3-2&1/2 story M.O.R dwellings at 150,152, and 154 Hudson street. With fire spreading into the attics of all 3 dwellings, a 2nd alarm was struck at 0330 hours. Companies used numerous 1&3/4-inch lines and extensive truck work to bring the fire under control at 0419 hours.
No injuries were reported in the fire which caused $75,000 in damage and left 2 people homeless. Officials have ruled the fire arson. 152 Hudson street was occupied, with 150 & 154 being vacant. All 3 dwellings had been damaged by 3 previous fires in late 1999 and early 2000. Companies assigned: 1st alarm: E11,3,1,L1,Sn1,R1,Medic6, C-5 & 7, E9-safety company. 2nd alarm: E5,13,L2, C-1,3, & 6
----110700: At 1857 hours and Engine and Truck company were dispatched to a reported smoke condition in the 100 block of Peach street. After investigating,a working fire was discovered in a dwelling at 108 Peach street, with a request to fill out the box. At 1903 hours box 241, 9th & Franklin streets was transmitted. Companies brought 2 seperate fires on the 1st & 2nd floors of the 2&1/2 story M.O.R. dwelling under control with a 1&3/4-inch line at 1927 hours. No injuries were reported in the fire which was ruled suspicious. Damage was estimated at $5,000. Companies assigned: Still alarm: E3,Sn1, & C-9. Box 241: E13,14,L2,Medic4, E11-safety company.
----111100: At 1820 hours, box 56, 5th and Greenwich streets was transmitted for a reported dwelling fire at 624 N. 6th street. Companies arrived at 1824 hours to find fire showing from the 2nd floor rear of a 3 story M.O.R. dwelling and spreading to exposure 4 (a similar type dwelling). Companies brought the fire under control with 2-1&3/4-inch lines by 1847 hours. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury in the fire which caused $10,000 damage and was started by faulty wiring in a wall. Companies assigned: E11,3,1,L1,Sn1,R1,Medic1, C-4 & 7,E9-safety company.
----111400: At 0106 hours, box 135, 3rd and Franklin streets was transmitted for a reported warehouse fire in the area of Carpenter and Franklin streets. Companies arrived at 0108 hours to find fire showing from a 1st floor rear doorway of a 3 story warehouse of the Filbert Seafood Company at 321 Franklin street. Companies brought the fire under control with a 1&3/4-nch line by 0127 hours. No injuries were reported in the fire which was ruled arson. A damage estimate was unavailable. Companies assigned: E3,1,5,L1,Sn1,R1,Medic6, C-4, E13-safety company.
