A shift firefighters had a busy shift on Nov.30th, battling 3 working fires. The first came just after 8:00a.m. when Engines 6,5,4,1,Rescue 2, Aerial 1, and Chiefs 2,3,4 responded to a fire in a hair salon at 2121 Austin Ave. Rescue 2 and Engine 6 arrived with smoke coming from the eves of the building. The 1 alarm fire was under control in about 4 minutes.
The second came in just after 6:00 p.m. when Engines 6,8,1, Quint 7, Rescue 2,AND Chief 3 responded to an apartment fire at 2301 Homan Ave. Engine 6 arrived to find a working fire in the attic of the 2 story 4-plex. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes.
The third came in just before 10:00p.m. when Quints 7,2 Engines 6,1, Rescue 2, and Chief 3 were dispatched to a house fire in the 1900 block of Windsor Ave. Quint 7 arrived with heavy smoke coming from the 1 story brick house. The fire was contained in about 15 minutes with heavy damage to the house.
