Christmas day unfortunately did not give weary Durham Firefighters a break from fighting fire. At 1358 hours Durham 911 dispatched a possible apartment fire on Sedgefield Street. SQ-2 arrived on scene and found a two story brick apartment complex with smoke showing. Lines were pulled and heavy fire was found in two rooms of the apartment. The apartment suffered heavy smoke and heat damage. All of the family's christmas presents were destroyed. The fire is considered suspicious and is under investigation. The following units responded:
E-2, E-1, E-7, L-2, L-1, SQ-2, Mobile Support 1, and Battalion 2.
