At 0330 Durham Firefighters were called for their second working apartment fire of the Christmas shift. Durham police on scene immediately after dispatch advised units of a working apartment fire with heavy smoke visible. First due E-8 found a two story brick apartment complex with smoke showing. Engines 3 & 8 advanced a line upstairs and found a well involved bedroom fire. L-1 vertically ventilated the structure. The fire was knocked down in 10 minutes, and units remained on scene for an hour and a half overhauling the apartment. The following units responded:
E-8, E-3, E-9, L-1, L-2, SQ-1, Mobile Support 1, Medic 8, and Battalion 1. The fire is under investigation.
