These incidents occurred in Reading over the past 2 weeks:
----121700: At 0323 hours box 62, 8th and Greenwich streets was transmitted for a reported dwelling fire at 514 Cedar street. Companies arrived at 0324 to find heavy smoke showing from the 1st floor of a 3 story M.O.R. occupied dwelling. Companies brought the fire involving the 1st floor kitchen and dinning room under control with 2-1&3/4-inch lines by 0343 hours. No injuries were reported and damage was listed at $10,000. The fire which was caused by unattended cooking left 2 people homeless. Companies assigned: E9,1,11,L3,Sn1,R1,Medic9,C-2 and E3(safety company)
----122400: At 1840 hours box 41, 10th and Penn streets was transmitted for a dwelling fire at 21 N. 10th street. Companies arrived at 1842 to find smoke showing from the 2nd floor of a 2&1/2 story 20x40 dwelling. Companies used a 1&3/4-inch line to bring the fire involving the 2nd floor front under control by 1851 hours. No injuries were reported in the fire which caused $15,000 damage. The fire was started by a candle being knocked over and left a family of 6 homeless. Companies assigned: E1,13,3,Sn1,L2,R1,Medic5, C-2 & 9, and E5(safety company)
----122500: ****MVA PIN JOB**** At 1122 hours a rescue assignment was dispacthed for a reported accident with entrapment at Lancaster Avenue at RT 422. Units were on scene at 1122 with a vehicle that had fallen 30 feet from the Rt 422 WB over pass, landing on its side on Lancaster Avenue with 1 victim pinned. An additional engine and ladder were called to assist at 1122 hours. Companies used the jaws and model "o" cutters to extricate the victim at 1155 hours. She was transported to a local medical center for numerous injuries. Companies assigned: E14,R1,Medic5 and C-9. Special call : E5 & L2
----123100: At 0458 hours box 18, 7th and Bingaman streets was transmitted for a reported dwelling fire at 763 Bingaman street. Companies arrived at 0500 to find a 2 story M.O.R. dwelling heavily involved. Companies used numerous 1&3/4-inch lines to bring the fire under control by 0534 hours. No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at $25,000. An investigation into the cause is continuing. Companies assigned: E1,5,3,Sn1,L1,R1,Medic3, C-7 and E13(safety company)
----010101: At 2046 hours a still alarm was dispacthed to a reported alarm system activation at the Book Bindery Apartments at 150 N. 4th street. Companies arrived at 2047 and began investigating the source of the alarm in the 6 story 50x175 apartment building. Companies discovered medium smoke on the 3rd floor with sprinklers activated and requested the 1st alarm. At 2051 hours box 1546 was transmitted for the building. Companies found a kicthen fire in apartment 302 which had been extinguished by the sprinklers. The fire was placed under control at 2106 hours but units remained on scene venting smoke and cleaning up excessive water which damaged 4 apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors. No injuries were reported in the fire which was caused by unattanded cooking. A damage estimate was unavailable and 2 occupants of the apartment were left temporarily homeless. Companies assigned: Still alarm: E3,L1, & C-7. Box 1546: E1,5,11,L2,R1 and Medic1.
----010201: At 0002 hours box 428, 9th and Elm streets was transmitted for a dwelling fire at 326 Cedar street. Companies arrived at 0004 hours to find smoke showing from the 1st floor of a 2 story occupied E.O.R. dwelling. Companies used 2-1&3/4-inch lines to bring the fire involving the basement under control by 0014 hours. No injuries were reported in the fire which left 2 people homeless. A damage estimate was unavailable and officials are still investigating the cause. Companies assigned: E1,3,9,L2,L3,R1,Medic2, C-7 and E13(safety company).
