Durham NC 2nd Apartment Fire
At 0410 on 01/06/00, Durham Firefighters responded to their second working apartment fire of the shift. The initial dispatch was for a reported apartment fire at Dacian and Harper Place. First arriving E-1 found a three story brick apartment complex with smoke showing. A line was stretched and a well involved kitchen fire was found in the bottom floor apartment. The fire was quickly knocked down, and units remained on the scene for an hour overhauling the structure and checking for extension. The kitchen sustained heavy fire and heat damage. This was station one's (E-1, L-1, SQ-1, Btn. 1) second working apartment fire of the shift.
The following units responded on the alarm:
E-1, E-2, E-9, L-1, L-2, SQ-1, Btn. 1, Mobile Support 1, and the duty safety officer.
***These are my own thoughts and do not reflect IAFF L-668 or Durham Fire Department.***
