Busy week for the Crozet Volunteers, "The Day Shift" was kept busy all week with brush fires due to extreme dry conditions in their area. Brush 53, Brush 55, Tanker 57, Engine 52 were all busy on Thursday fighting a field fire that burned approx. 4-5 acres, they had covered three calls which all came in all in an hour, Capt. Wood had command of the first two incidents, while Firefighter Rose had command of the third brush fire. Friday, Brush-53,Brush-55, Tanker 57, Engine 1(CFD), Tanker 49, Brush 46 of Earlysville, along with Forestry 1&2 with the dozer, were kept busy with another 5 acre brush and woods fire just north of the station, President Schmertzler had command. Minutes later Station 5 was alerted again just north of the last fire for another brush fire(Control burn reported out of control). Brush 53, Brush 55, Tanker 57, Engine 1, and Forestry 1 and 2 with the dozer were on the scene for about two hours, Firefighter Walker had the command of this incident.
