Fatal Waco House Fire
Just before 8:00 a.m. Sunday(1-21), engines 9,8,6,11, Rescue 9,Aerial 11, And Chief 3 were dispatched to a house fire with somebody trapped inside in the 6300 block of May Dr. Rescue 9 and Engine 9 arrived to find heavy fire showing from a one story brick house. The house next door was already begining to catch fire from radiant heat.As Engine 8 laid a supply line, An aggressive search and fire attack was begun. Engines 6,11 and Aerial 11 arrived at assisted units. The crew from Engine 6 found a 90 year old occupant and removed him. The man was not breathing with 2nd degree burns over 80% of his body. The occupant was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where he later died. The fire was brought under control in less than 10 minutes.Units remained onscene about 2 hours. No cause for the fire has been released.
