Heavy storms struck the Apex area late Friday night and early Saturday morning resulting in a working fire. Shortly after midnight Friday a resident from a Lillyford Lane address phoned the Apex VFD Station 1 and said that he thought his house was struck by lightning and he had a light haze in his attic. Station 1 notified the Comm. Center and had a a full assignment dispatched to his address for an electrical investigation. While responding, units were notified by the Comm. Center that the call was being upgraded to a working fire. E-1 arrived shortly after with a 2 story wood frame dwelling with heavy fire visible from the front gabel.Two lines into operation with Engine 1 and Ladder 1 crews on the attack. Roof operations were not performed due to heavy lightning conditions. Engine 3 and Rescue Squad 1 assisting with mop-up. Searches were negative, no injuries to report.
