Union Fire Company No.1 (Chester County Sta.21) and the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun (Cecil County, MD Sta. 8&18) were dispatched to the 300 block of Mount Pleasent Rd, East Nottingham Twp for a garage fire. Multiple calls were reporting explosions from the building.
Engine 21-4 responded at 10:21 and had smoke visible from 3 miles out. A working fire dispatch was then made. Engine 21-4 arrived at 10:26hrs and reported a 20x40 commercial garage with apartments on the 2nd floor...fire showing both floors sides A & B. A 1st Alarm Tanker Task Force was requested, bringing Tankers from West Grove (CC Sta.22), Cochranville (CC Sta.27), Singerly of Elkton (Cecil County Sta. 3,13,14), Avondale (CC Sta.23).
Fire attack was intitiated using a 2 1/2" handline and an 1 3/4" handline.
Quarryville (TKR5-7) was dispatched to cover 2 tankers that failed to respond.
A tanker shuttle was established with the water being dumped into our 6500gal tanker and a fill site appx 2 miles away at a municipal hydrant.
All operations were defensive due to severe instability of the structure. Overhaul was done with the help of manpower from the mutual-aid companies. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
1st Alarm: E21-1, E21-2, E21-4, TKR21, TRK21 Amb21-1, Cecil Engs 813, 814, TKR821
1st Alarm Tanker Task Force: TKR22, TKR27-5, Cecil TKR321, TKR23, Lancaster TKR5-7
Atglen E26-1, Westwood TKR44-6, Parkesburg Amb28-2 all moved to Sta21.
York TKR57(Delta) and Cecil E414 moved to Cecil Sta.08
