Lots of fire and lots of activity has hit the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department (www.dcvfd.org).

September 6, 2001

An auto accident with reported entrapement was dispatched in the Princedale area of Dale City. Units found a single vehicle overturned with a single occupant ejected. Medics treated the young female and opted to medivac her to Fairfax Hospital where she succumed to her injuries.

September 7, 2001

A fire was dispatched in the Birchdale area of Dale City (FS10). The fire was reported to be in a single family dwelling with an additional report of occupants still in the building.

E10 went to work stretching a line and searching for potential victims, which proved negative. The fire was located in the upper bedroom and confined to its room and contents. The fire went under control in less than 10 minutes.

September 8, 2001

Units from the Birchdale Station were dispatched to a report of a fire in a occupied multiple dwelling. E10 marked on the scene with smoke showing from the third floor. A report was given that people were still in the third floor apartment. E10 stretched dry to the third floor where an aggressive fire attack and search was initiated. The fire was located in the kitchen area and quickly extinguished. There were no occupants in the apartment. An occupant was transported to the local hospital for burns and smoke inhalation after an attempt to extinguish the blaze with a garden hose. No firefighter injuries were reported.
