Three Die in North Tulsa House Fire
Tulsa, OK - January 1, 2002
About 1:45 in afternoon a call came in to Tulsa 911 System reporting a house fire at 3215 North Wheeling Place. A few minutes later a second call came in reporting possible people trapped in the rear of the dwelling. EMSA was called in for standby. Engine 24 was the first company on scene. Fire was showing from the two-story wood frame dwelling. Engine 24 reported that there were bars on the widows in rear of the house. Engine 24's crew quickly pulled a hand line and started interior attack. Ladder 24 arrived and set up Wheeling Command. Ladder 24's officer assigned Engine 19's crew to perform Search and Rescue. Car 644 arrived with in a few minutes and assumed command. Command requested an additional Engine and Ladder to the scene for manpower. The bottle van was also requested to the scene.
A primary search of the house was made. Firefighters three occupants found dead in side the dwelling. It took over an hour to bring the fire under control. The fire is under investigation at this time by Tulsa Fire Investigators. Tulsa Police requested a Medical Examiner. The names and ages of victims have not been released. One firefighter was transported by EMSA to local hospital with minor injures
