E-One has an aerial white paper posted on their Aerials page, I believe, and it addresses some of the plusses of aluminum. That's all I know of off hand. Sorry if you knew of it already. I'm not an aerial type of guy myself and can't provide any first hand experience.

I've never stood on a more stable ladder than our aluminum 100' E-one. Even the steel tower ladders with the buckets have more sway.
E-One's ladders can't be shortjacked and they've never had one tip over. They are a great truck.
