Our department has begun adding our hydraulic rescue tools and high angle/confined space equipment to the aerial companies.(We currently have 3 with a 4th to be added in 5 years) What are the opinions on this? Right now purchasing a rescue truck is out of the question. The plan is to have all the truckies qualify as a resuce specialist, and each station will specialize in a field of technical rescue that presents as the most serious hazard in their response area. ie water rescue, high angle, heavy building collapse, Haz-Mat, Trench. If anyone uses this system please give me some ideas on training and logistics of how you do this.
